Job Interview

You have been invited to an interview having made agood mpression. Now, to prepare for the interview, some helpful tips:

  • Research the company
  • Who their customers are
  • What they make or sell
  • If they are a service company
  • Know the role you are applying for
  • The sort of person they are looking for
  • What skills are you offering them
  • How can you adapt your skill to suit the position

Also,remember:

  • Don't be late - Plan your journey
  • Dressing - Plan what to wear

 

Gather your thougths 
 

Arrive early, say 10-15mins before the interview. If you are unable to arrive by that time, call and explain why.

 

When you arrive, remember to look confident and make contact with someone at the company to let them know you are there and your reason for being there. You may want to show them the letter inviting you for the job interview.

 

Ensure you have all the necessary documents you prepared for the interview:

  • CV
  • Certificates
  • Reference
  • Pen & paper
  • Your presentation (if you need to)
  • Research on the company
  • Letter inviting you for the interview
  • Personal IDs, NI, Passport etc

 


The Interview

The interview may take the form of a test or you may be required to make a presentation. There are various types of inteviews - Find out before the appointed date to ensure you are well prepared. Here are some common questions to help you prepare:

  • Why do you want to work here?
  • What did you do in your previous job?
  • Why have you chosen to here?
  • Why have you had so many jobs?
  • What makes a good team member?
  • How do you cope under pressure?
  • What strengths can you bring to this job?
  • What wage do you hope to earn?
